Psychological Wellbeing Service
The psychological wellbeing service provides a range of talking therapies that are proven to help people experiencing difficulties like depression and anxiety.
Psychological therapy is an opportunity for you to talk through the current problems or difficulties you may be experiencing. Your therapist can support you to explore your feelings and thoughts, to understand yourself and your situation and to work out coping strategies or make helpful changes in your life.
The psychological wellbeing service can help with the following:
- Coping with injury or illness
- Mild to moderate depression
- Emotional, physical or sexual abuse issues
- Family issues
- Life difficulties
- Relationship issues
- Self-image and identity issues
- Sexuality issues
- Stress and trauma
- Post-traumatic stress
Psychological therapy is most effective when focusing on specific problems. We can only offer short-term work. Some patients need more time and the counsellor will assist, where possible, in referral elsewhere if longer-term work is more suitable.
