Repeat Prescriptions

Patients on regular medication will be given a repeat prescription slip when you collect your medication. This is the white slip on the right hand side of your green prescription.  Please note prescriptions are issued for 28 days only.

If you need a repeat you do not necessarily have to see a doctor.

Ordering Repeat Prescriptions

Three working days are required to process repeat prescriptions. Requests should either be made online, in person or in writing. We are unable to accept telephone requests.

Repeat prescriptions can be ordered in the following ways:

  • Patients registered for our online services can order repeat prescriptions online via the link at the top of this page. Please contact reception to sign up for our online appointment and prescriptions services if you are a new user.
  • Tick items you require on your copy of the prescription request form (white slip) and post it in surgery reception by the check in screen.
  • Fill in a yellow order form available at surgery reception. You will need to provide medication details and patient contact details. Post in the box by the 'Check in' screen in reception.
  • Fill in and post your prescription request form (white slip) to the surgery. Please include a stamped, address envelope.
  • Fax the prescription request form (white slip) to the surgery on: 01525 381814

Once your prescription request has been processed it will be available to be collected from surgery reception for you to take to a pharmacy.

You can also nominate a pharmacy which the prescription will be sent to and dispensed ready for collection. Just let reception know your preferred Leighton Buzzard pharmacy. All pharmacies in Leighton Buzzard have signed up to this scheme and it is free.

Some pharmacies also operate a home delivery service. Please contact them directly for details and they will be happy to advise you.

Remember: If you feel unwell or have side effects when taking your medication please speak to your pharmacist or make an appointment to speak to your GP.

Medication Reviews

On the slip is a date for the doctor to review your current medication. Medication reviews will happen at least every 6 months. You should make an appointment at least 3 weeks before this date to avoid running out of medication.

Please allow two full working days for prescriptions to be processed and remember to take weekends and bank holidays into account.
