Further to the Leighton Buzzard Primary Care Network (PCN) opening its COVID-19 Vaccination Centre in mid-January, we are delighted to confirm that close to 26,000 vaccinations have now been delivered. This jointly-run service (by all 3 general practices in the town) continues to operate from the LB Rugby Club on Stanbridge Road and we are grateful to the staff there, and an amazing team of volunteers and practice staff for their ongoing support.
We are now offering 2nd vaccinations to those most clinically vulnerable having completed 2nd jabs for our housebound and nursing/residential care patients, the original cohort for vaccination at the start of the programme. The Vaccination Centre continues to open on days on which clinics are operating – this is dictated by vaccine delivery dates organized by NHS England and is therefore sometimes Monday to Friday and sometimes over weekends.
To ensure the smooth running of the service:
- Please arrive promptly and allow up to 30 minutes for your appointment
- If possible, arrange for private transport or ask friends/family to help
- Please do not attend the centre if you don’t have an appointment; deliveries of vaccine are strictly limited and the Centre can only vaccinate those who’ve been given an appointment by their GP surgery
Any patient who has not yet had their 1st COVID vaccination will be unable to attend the Rugby Club site for this as the PCN is no longer being supplied with 1st vaccine deliveries. However, patients are able to book to attend their local Mass Vaccination Site (nearest at Bletchley, Dunstable and Wing) by telephoning 119 or visiting the government website at: www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/coronavirus-vaccination. The current cohort being called is those aged 45-50 but the site will regularly be updated as this changes.
